Twitter would allow you to share images and videos in the same tweet

Twitter is testing the option to share an image and a video in the same post. Will it see the light at some point?

Despite being in the process of buying Elon Musk, Twitter has not stopped testing multiple features in development. In recent weeks we have been able to find out about a lot of news that is on its way to the platform, and today we have information about one that users have requested for a long time.

We are discussing sharing different multimedia files in the same tweet. Twitter currently only allows us to post images or a video, but not both in a single post. However, this limitation is about to disappear very soon.

At 9to5Mac, they discovered that Twitter is testing the possibility of doing mixed posts. That is, with an image and a video. At the moment, yes, only one shot can be uploaded, and not up to four as in the usual gallery.

As previously mentioned, the feature is on many users’ wish lists. Sometimes we want to share both types of files, and the only way to maintain the relationship between the two posts is by creating a thread. This procedure is widely used by film companies when they share a trailer and a poster of their production, for example.

It is worth mentioning that Twitter, for now, has not ruled on this feature. We do not know at what point in its development, much less when it will be released for all users. Another critical point to consider is that the fact that it is in the testing phase does not guarantee its launch. It could even be available with a different operation than our current one.

Another proposal that Twitter is testing is the “Awards.” Although details are scarce, we can award prizes to the tweets we like the most. Of course, the post would show the total number of acknowledgments you have received. So, finally, you could show off those “tweets” that show your inspiration.

Beyond the tweets with mixed media files and the “Awards,” there is other news whose launch is already official. The most important, of course, is the button to edit tweets, the operation of which was exposed in a recent leak. We also have “Circle,” which allows you to limit the display of tweets to a specific group of followers —a maximum of 150—. Surely the second function will make you remember “best friends” on Instagram or the circles of the extinct Google+.

Undoubtedly, Twitter is evolving as far as functionality is concerned. But the most significant change will come when Elon Musk takes the reins of the social network.
