Lenovo renews its gaming laptops with more power, refined design and a brutal battery

Lenovo has updated its catalog of gaming laptops with the introduction of the new Legion 7 and 7i, which stand out for their power, and the Legion Slim 7 and 7i, which also come with interesting features and a thinner and lighter design.

Lenovo continues to update its catalog of laptops, and now it is the turn of the Legion line, intended for gaming. The company announced four new models: two that stand out for their power and two others that stand out for their thin and light design. We are talking about the Legion 7 and 7i and the Legion Slim 7 and 7i, respectively.

In both cases, the teams arrive with exciting specifications and the possibility of choosing hardware from Intel or AMD. But beyond the difference between the components or the final design of the products, Lenovo ensures that the teams try to meet different needs: the Legion 7 and 7i are for gamers looking for a brutal level of performance when running their video games favorites, while the Legion Slim 7 and 7i are for those looking for a balance between gaming and content creation.

One point on which the new Lenovo computers agree is the screen size. The four models that join the Legion family are 16 inches, have a 16:10 aspect ratio, and have a 165 Hz refresh rate. And you can also choose a version with a variable refresh rate between 165 and 240hz.

When it comes to performance, not everything depends on the hardware. As we have mentioned in the recent update of the Yoga laptop line, the Lenovo Legion 7 and 7i and the Legion Slim 7 and 7i incorporate the Chinese brand’s artificial intelligence engine —in this case, Lenovo Legion AI Engine 2.0.

It is in charge of balancing the performance of the processor and the GPU in real-time according to each game to get the most out of the hardware, and it also works together with the heat dissipation system, so there are no performance drops. Lenovo’s new gaming laptops have several improvements in the thermal section, such as implementing fans with 67% thinner blades to improve air circulation in the Legion 7 and 7i, among others.

Lenovo Legion 7 and 7i, for those looking for pure performance

As we mentioned, Lenovo has designed the new Legion 7 and 7i for gamers looking for laptops that can offer them the maximum possible performance. The company touts them as the world’s most powerful gaming laptops in the 16-inch range.

But these teams not only stand out for their impressive hardware but also for a design that attracts much attention. Of course, we can’t think of a product for the gaming market without RGB, and the new Lenovo brings it in quantities, not only in the keyboard backlight but also in the ambient lighting on the outer edge of the device and the LEGION logo on the cover. It is worth mentioning that the illumination is configurable and can be deactivated by sectors.

Design-wise, the Lenovo Legion 7 and 7i arrive with an “aerospace-grade” aluminum-magnesium chassis. Aesthetically, it follows the line that we have already seen in other models in the catalog and maintains the input and output ports on the back; the big difference here is that they are now more easily identifiable when viewing the equipment from above, thanks to the inclusion of backlit “labeling.”

The refreshed Lenovo Legion laptops also have an improved keyboard, offering deeper keyboard travel. In addition, it includes a technology called WASD Force Sensor that directly impacts the games; According to the company, this technology allows you to change some of the keys and speed up the characters in the game by exerting more pressure on them.

And about the specifications, which we will detail, there is one that attracts all eyes: the battery’s capacity. The new Legion 7 and 7i include a 99.99Whr hail which, according to Lenovo, is the largest that can be legally had in a laptop. And it supports 135W fast charging via USB-C (Power Delivery).

Lenovo Legion Slim 7 and 7i: great potential in a slim chassis

As we said at the beginning, with its new Legion and Legion Slim laptops, Lenovo’s idea is to meet the needs of different types of users within the gaming field. And just as the Legion 7 and 7i offered maximum performance to get the most out of the most demanding games, the Legion Slim 7 and 7i deviate slightly from that path.

Yes, the “thin” versions still boast competent hardware for gaming. Still, they are also focused on content creation or other tasks that are not necessarily related to the gaming environment. And the aesthetic section is clear proof of it, without the exterior RGB decoration. The Lenovo Legion Slim 7 and 7i have a more conservative aesthetic without too much paraphernalia.

Although there are apparent differences in the specification table compared to the Legion 7 and 7i, the Slim variants repeat essential features. Among them are the 16-inch WQXGA panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio, the impressive 99.99Whr battery with 135W fast charging, and the artificial intelligence engine. And all encased in an aluminum and magnesium chassis that allows Lenovo to boast their lightest and thinnest gaming laptops with this screen size.
