5 short and very fun games to play this holiday season

Although 2022 has undoubtedly been a year of great releases, most games require us to spend a few extra hours on them. The game of the year, Elden Ring, is undoubtedly essential to everything we saw in 2022, but you can already reserve 80 hours to enjoy all its content. That is if you are a skilled player at this title type.

That’s why we recommend shorter and simpler games to pass the time this Christmas. All of them are titles of incredible quality, short but intense, making your hours in front of the console or the PC enjoyable.

We wanted to make the selection with releases from several years. That is to say; they are not recent titles that have just arrived on the market. You can get them for a few euros and play another one for free if you have Xbox Game Pass (also on PC) or PlayStation Plus in some aspects that offer access to the game catalog.

Firewatch is, perhaps, the absolute reference for very high-quality short games with a colossal narrative load. It is one of the essentials of all lists. It is also available on all platforms. It is played very simply and has several endings depending on our actions. Its narrative section is outstanding, and it’s the artistic part of ten. A game that you have to play and that you can finish in just 4 hours.

Little Nightmares

• Duration: about three and a half hours.
• Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.

Although its sequel is very recent, the real gem is this, the first game. A straightforward platform and puzzle title with a tremendous artistic section and story. It’s available on most platforms, it’s relatively short-lived, and you’ll love it. If you know how long a traditional AAA game lasts (and what it costs), you can buy and play the first and its sequel—safety pin.

• Platforms: PC and PlayStation.

The most recent of the entire list, and only available on PC and Sony consoles, including both PS4 and PS5. Also, if you have PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium, you can play it without buying it since it is included in the subscription. It is an adventure that mixes puzzles and platforms in a Cyberpunk world h a cat as the main character. Ideal to spend a few hours.

What Remains of Edith Finch

• Duration: 2 hours.
• Platforms: PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.

One of those concise games with a heartbreaking story that you will remember forever. The title, launched for the previous generation, is one of the most acclaimed indies ever due to its simplicity and staging. It covers a great story that will not leave anyone indifferent.

A Way Out

• Duration: about 6 hours.
• Platforms: PlayStation, PC, and Xbox.

One of the great EA blockbusters that came to consoles and PCs with the label of Josef Fares, creator of the magnificent Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. This is a focused adventure game for you to play with another person. It is a story of two people played simultaneously with different points of view. A game to also play with the family at Christmas and one of the longest on the list, but in a few hours, you can complete it.
